Snapshotology

Snapshotology is the art of taking great photos with simple gear. It's more about seeing photographic opportunities than dragging around a bag of expensive equipment. My name is E.R.Smith and I teach photography to anyone who is interested in acquiring the ability to see photographically. My goal is to simplify the art of photography and give you the skills to enjoy taking pictures. Feel free to comment on my blog or drop me note anytime.

My wife Susan and I own and operate Captured Moments Photography, a professional studio located in downtown Beaufort, SC.

This stuff doesn't have to be hard!

I run into this all the time: the notion that you need to travel to some amazing photgraphic locale to do photography. Sure traveling to exciting places and shooting is a blast, but on the flip side, you can get amazing pictures just walking around the block. In fact, the more you practice your craft in situations where you don't think there is anything to photograph, the better you will get. The ability to recognize photographic opportunities is what I'm talking about. You need to exercise your photographic vision.

Chase Jarvis says that at any given time, there are 10 great photographs within 10 meters of you.

I took this at the Golden Corral. What do you think?
