Everyone knows I just love to run around and take fun snapshots. Every now and then you can plan to take a shot that requires a little more planning. I decided to do an evening shot of the bridge from the cannon side of it. I carefully picked the time, which was right at dusk. Another factor here in Beaufort are the tides. Low tide is something I usually avoid. This sort of project requires a tripod so that you can eliminate any blurring in the low light situation. I was on location there for no more that 30 minutes as I tried several variations of the shot. I was rewarded with this image. I love it when a plan comes together.

The Best Camera is the One You Have With You.

Seriously, the only camera that counts is the one you have with you. Sure you can drag that bag of gear around with you everywhere you go, but having a backup pocket camera is priceless. It's very freeing. I almost always have my trusty Canon G-11 with me for those random moments. There are so many serious compacts in the pipeline that I think DSLR's are on their way out.

Here's an HDR from LT's, where I had lunch for the first time. It was oustanding, my kind of place definitely. I have a little Bogen stand that attaches to my G-11 for just such a situation. I set it on the table and cranked off 3 shots for this HDR. It's great to have a camera with you.

Famous last shots

Famous last shots, a photo by Geir Akselsen on Flickr.

This is hillarious!

Here's some way cool stuff from CES

I just caught this article on DIY photography which is a great site btw. Sure traveling to exciting places and shooting is a blast, but on the flip side, you can get amazing pictures just walking around the block. In fact, the more you practice your craft in situations where you don't think there is anything to photograph, the better you will get. The ability to recognize photographic opportunities is what I'm talking about. You need to exercise your photographic vision.

Here's a great shot while we were hanging out on the beach. I probably took 20 shots to get this one. I'm not sure if I,ve mentioned this before but so many people I talk to about photography don't do any post processing on their images. Going in after the fact and correcting and improving your image is a huge part of photography. Back in the day it was all done in the darkroom and not everyone could have one. Now however the darkroom is in your computer . It's called photoshop and I highly recommend giving it a shot, it's where the magic lives.

15 ways to improve your photography: without buying anything.

This is a 20 megapixel camera with know mirror and a top ISO of 12,800. It just sounds amazing. I have heard the Samsung was going to enter this market in a big way. They are calling this a compact camera system. I can't wait to getmy hands on something like this. This camera looks like it could be a game changer and hopefully will jump start the competition. Supposedly Fuji has a something similar due to come out in the not too distant future. There is a review at the link.
